24 hrs and counting

It's official!!! I was informed today by GM Gene Smith that I will be released by the Jaguars tomorrow. I'm excited to see what the future holds and where I will end up this season. Teams have already expressed interest since being informed that this will happen. Ill be taking some trips to teams as early as this weekend, so I'd assume my situation will be resolved in the next week or two. I have never been a free agent so it's pretty exciting!!!

I just again want to thank my friends, family, and fans who have supported me throughout my career. The past was bright, but the future will be incandescent!

  2. We will miss you in Jax George. Best of luck to you in your new football home.

  3. Best of luck for the rest of your career, George. Thank you for always giving 100% on & off the field while in Jax.

    God Bless,
    Jon K. (Jacksonville)

  5. Eric, i found this on espn. i pick all those teams you have posted as where to go. for my sake and yours stay out of the afc north. steelers hit hard.

  6. Bye George,

Jax will miss you. Keep being awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Thanks for being a class act while in Jax. !
Best wishes for continues success ... as long as it's not in in AFC South ! 8-) LOL

    ReplyDelete
  8. Good luck to you George!! You should come up to Buffalo. The Bills could use you.

    ReplyDelete
  9. yoooooooooooooo... no way on buffalo.. lol.. cold ass wasteland.. Giants, Eagles, or Falcons.. but whereever you go, we'll be there rooting.. that's some great news! God Bless

  10. Come on over to Buffalo, George! By the time it really starts getting cold, the season is over! 65 and feelin' fine right now!

All joking aside, you'd fit in great with Lynch, Owens and Evans.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Come to the Raiders we need a guy like you beside Zach Miller :)

    ReplyDelete
  12. Yo George.

Follow the Poll. Buffalo is where you need to be. They've needed a recieving TE forever, and with TO, Evans, Reed and Parrish you'd be wide open constantly.

plus Trent Edwards likes to spread it around and loves to utilize a safety valve.

It's a great fit for your skills man, especially after the terrible Jax passing game deflated your numbers.

    ReplyDelete
  13. newsflash:

it's jsut as cold in New York and Philly as it in in Buffalo..

    ReplyDelete
  14. George:

The Jets make sense. They literally have no TE who can play on the line. Plus, Kellen Clemens is likely to be the QB.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Trent Edwards in Buffalo loves to check down to his tight ends and running backs, and the team currently has no veteran tight ends on the roster. There will be plenty of room for you to work with Owens and Lee Evans on the outside.

Plus, after playing in Jacksonville, you'll love the college atmosphere that Bills fans bring to the game every Sunday. Best fans in the NFL, hands down.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Congrats on the opportunity you have in front of you, now you just need to make the right choice, which is Buffalo. It's no colder here than it is in New England, New (Jersey) York, Detroit, and Philly. We just get more snow because of the lakes. You did pretty well in JAX with NOBODY at WR, come to Buffalo and you've got Evans, T.O., Parrish, and Reed pulling coverage away from the TEs, you would have a lot of space to work, and also help our run game. Join your former teammate Stroud!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Come to DC - we have a lot of Ducks here that you can hang out with. That and personally I think the Redskins TE situation other than Cooley is piss poor, so they could use you for sure.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Come to Buffalo, we want you up here.

    ReplyDelete
  19. chris cooley wannabe pshhhh.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Come to Buffalo, you'd be a perfect compliment to the offense with TO, Evans, Lynch and Freddy Jackson...

Seriously, you would be running down the middle of the field wide open most of the time with Evans and Owens on the outside!!

    ReplyDelete
  21. PLEASE CONSIDER BUFFALO, THEY NEED A GOOD BLOCKING TE AND THE OPPORTUNITY TO CATCH MORE WILL INCREASE. TRENT LOVES TO SPREAD IT. YOU, LYNCH, TO, EVANS,REED, AND PARISH I'M LOVING IT. OH AND THE FANS ARE GREAT.

    ReplyDelete
  22. George, come to the Bills. You've heard the expression "It's a nice place to visit but I wouldn't wanna live there."? Well, Buffalo is the "nice place to live, but I wouldn't want to visit". The people are nice, the fans will support you--the team is their lifeblood. You get a place here and you will love it. Anybody who talks trash about Buffalo NEVER lived there, or had a heart.

There's a lot of young talent here and a great tight end will make that offense go nuclear this year.

Good luck no matter what choice you make, but come to Buffalo!

    ReplyDelete
  23. COME TO BUFFALO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  24. come to seattle
it would kind of a homecoming

    ReplyDelete
  25. If Arizona offers you a contract, sign it. This is perfect football. Great city, great coach, great stadium... and they are championship caliber. You'd start, and might get a ring.

If you want money, though, good luck to you.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Come to buffalo. It is one of the best organizations in the league. It treats its players with the respect they deserve. It is also one of the greatest environments in the NFL to play in. Especially this year as we head to the playoffs for the first time in a long time!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Actually, a one year deal with a team with a bunch of probowlers might get you the big money next year.

The weathers great! Southwest is cheap to Phoenix. Come on out. :P

    ReplyDelete
  28. BUFFALO BUFFALO BUFFALO!!
You would be open on every single play with TO and Evans on the outside. Plus Trent Edwards loves to chech it down to the TEs.

Please come to Buffalo, we need you!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Buffalo would be the actual best fit you football wise. Anyone who knocks the city has never been to Buffalo. I live in south Jersey and it is just as cold only the lake effect snow causes the amount of snow in Buffalo. Real men play football in the cold. It is a college atmosphere, the fans would die for their players and team. If you enjoyed college and like a check down QB which means more balls thrown your way go to Buffalo. Great town ,best fans and unreal atmosphere. If you want money go to a big organization. If you want the ball, fun and the best NFL years you will experiance go to Buffalo.

    ReplyDelete
  30. George,
We need you in the B-LO....
The bills offensive skill positions are loaded...minus a pass catching TE.
We got 87 reserved, just for you!

    BuffaloBillyJ

  31. I cant say it any better than the last post except to add that that way that you block i would love to see you help open some holes for Marshawn and Freddie. I think that you would be a great piece to the puzzle. Lots of luck on your search and god bless.

    ReplyDelete
  32. BUFFALO already loves you!

Come help us! We need a gamer like you to get us to the next level.

You'd look great in Buffalo Blue.

    ReplyDelete
  33. George,
The day you sign for buffalo will be the day thousands of Wrighster jerseys will be bought. Hope to see you at John Fisher in a couple months!

    ReplyDelete
  34. BUFFALO BUFFALO BUFFALO BUFFALO!!!!!!!! Look at all the love your getting from Bills fans. You would have an opportunity to play a ton and probably catch more passes.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Come To Buffalo. Special stuff is gonna happen this year!

    ReplyDelete
  36. If you want to be treated like an A-List celebrity, come to Buffalo. We love our players.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Buffalo man! You are wanted and it would be a great fit.

    ReplyDelete
  38. George, clearly the Bills nation has spoken! We want you the most, also need you the most. So what you need to do is cancel all you other FA visits and just get ready for these OTA's up in B-LOW. Just holla at ya boy Stroud and he will tell you everything you need to know about B-LOW!!!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I agree with the others, Buffalo would be an awesome choice for you.

    ReplyDelete
  40. As George's sister I would like to thank all the people supporting my brother during this time..We want George to go to the team that's the best fit for him but whatever team he goes to he/we would love to have fans like yall surrounding him/us..

    ReplyDelete
  41. All HATERS stay away!! George doesn't need your negative energy!!! George you're going to be great no matter where you go and I think it shows how much of a skilled tight end you are when you have this many teams to talk about you possibly going to and the Jags haven't even officially announced the release..The Jags are crazy, we are going to miss you!!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Greorge Wrighster TE/BuffaloBills #87

    Sounds good to me!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Just give Marcus Stroud a call he will let you know what it is all about up in B-Low. We just released an older less talented version of yourself in Robert Royal. You could easily replace him. Don't forget to tell The Bills you would love to Mentor their current TEs and J’Nathan Bullock the basketball player from Cleveland State. Truck on up to Buffalo it is by far the best move you could make! Good luck!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Well if you really are his sister, and he wants to be surround by fans like us, then Buffalo it is! NO OTHER TEAM has fans like the Bills. Shirtless in December at games, upstate New York lives and dies with the Bills every Sunday.

There isn't a team who's players get more love from fans than the Bills. This should especially be huge because the fanbase in Jax is terrible.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Come to Cleveland! The fans and the team needs a Tight End like you.

    ReplyDelete
  46. just picture this, on the outside there is owens and evens, in the slot can be eather reed or parrish, lynch in the backfield and you at te. those are all very dangorus weapons and they cant cover them all. and no offence i play te too but the wr's are usally the first priority for defences and with that tallent they got to double evans and owens witch means no pass rush or your open every down. come to buffalo to be apart of the NEW explosive offence in the nfl and put up prow bowl stats. BUFFALO IS PERFECT FOR YOU. and the weather is great right now. no colder than philli, new england, ny, or ne where else. and there is plenty to do in buffalo, just ask marshawn lynch

    ReplyDelete
  47. come to the bills ......!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  48. It's pretty clear we want you here in Buffalo :D

    ReplyDelete
  49. George, I am a huge Ducks fan and loved you for them. I always thought that you were underrated. I am also a diehard Bills fan and would absolutely love it if you came to Buffalo. You would be much more utilized than you were in Jax. Buffalo fans are the best and we would support you 100%! Go Ducks! Go Bills!

    ReplyDelete
  50. You asked George, and it looks like you are well on your way to getting an answer! The place to go is where you will be respected as a person and a player, where you are needed the most, and where you will be loved by your fans! Go Buffalo!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  51. LETS G0 BUFFALO....Those are the three words you'll be hearing on sundays'

We welcome you with open arms!!!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Go to Carolina with your fellow Ducks. Rosario and Stewart. Good luck, wish you the best.

    ReplyDelete
  53. One word.... BUFFALO!!

    ReplyDelete
  54. George pleasse at least visit Buffalo, we've needed a guy like you for more than the past decade!

    ReplyDelete
  55. You would look good in "Cardinal Red" god bless!

    ReplyDelete
  56. George, do not choose B-Lo! We need an upgrade over Robert Royal! 6 years, 94 catches, 850 yards, and 9 TD's is not what we are looking for. Actually, we are hoping we will be seeing Mr. Scheffler from Denver in a Bills uniform.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Speak for yourself jackass

    ReplyDelete
  58. Listen, the only thing George does better than Royal is he doesn't fumble. No disrespect George but I do not believe that you are the solution we are looking for. I wish you the best in your career.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I didn't get a chance to show all my skills on a consistent basis in jacksonville partly due to a couple untimely injuries and that puts you in a tough spot. I have only caught 94 balls in 6 years true, but I have not played in 67 games due to injury and this year I was on PUP (not by choice). I played in jacksonville where we didn't throw the ball a lot and we have only had a receiver catch more than 70 balls 1 time in 6 years. My RAC/YAC is nice and I catch the football great.

I understand the doubt, but if you have seen me play you know what I am capable of with opportunities. I will stay healthy and show what I have and it will be elite.

    ReplyDelete
  60. georgie boy dont listen to any of those clowns compare you to rob royal, your skill set is outstanding and i know i clearly speak for the majority of us when i say we would love to have you in buffalo, the people have spoken, come on home george, see you at the ralph

    ReplyDelete
  61. I don't doubt you at all, George. I think you are highly skilled and reliable player. You would be a great fit for Buffalo. Your blocking abilities will help our OLine. With the WRs we have, you will have your opportunities, more than you did in Jacksonville like you said. Come to Buffalo.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Thanks for your years as a Jag. Of the teams you listed, you need to pick the one that you feel is the best fit for you and one that needs a great TE like you've been for us. The best offense on the teams you listed is seems to be Arizona at first glance. It's scary how good they could be with you and the current weapons on their roster, but wherever you end up, best of luck to you in the future!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Cardinals already have a TE that they play often. Buffalo doesn't now that Royal left. There's definitely more opportunities in Buffalo than in Arizona.

    ReplyDelete
  64. As far as Buffalo is concerned, TO WAS a great player that has always, without exception, ended up being a cancer on his team. George - pick the team that's the best fit for you. We will miss you in Jacksonville!

    ReplyDelete
  65. The only teams on your list that I would immediately rule out are the Lions, Bills and Rams unless they blow you away with an offer you can't refuse. It would be great to play on the perfect team for you, but at the end of the day, this is a business. The remaining teams all have some positives. I don't follow AZ like I do the Jags, but one thing that jumped out to me is that they beat 3 of the teams on your list in the playoffs this year. Hate to see you leave, but best of luck to you wherever you end up.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Someone above says that the Cardinals have a TE that they play often. Since they didn't say who it was and I couldn't think of their TEs, I did a search myself. Their top receiving TE last year was Ben Patrick with 11 catches for 104 yards. With Warner and 3 1,000 yard WRs, that looks like a great place for you if they are in the market for another TE and they'd pay you what you're worth. Good luck. We'll miss you here!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Come up north to Buffalo, you'd fit right in and be a gamer from day one. You already got the fans behind you, and trent definately loves TE's. Good fit but good luck with whatever you choose.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Dude let me tell you as a 15 year old kid i want an explosive TE and you are it.
Trent will get you the ball and hes a great guy.
Come to Buffalo and I will buy your jersey.
Just look at the poll man!

    ReplyDelete
  69. Go to Buffalo. You have the best chance to start on the Bills roster. The Bills need a TE very badly and you are more proven than any of the TE in the draft so if you go to the Bills, they won't waste a pick on a TE that wouldn't be as good as you.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Please, please come to Buffalo. We have been waiting for a great TE(aka George Wrighster) for a long time!

    ReplyDelete
  71. George, don't pay attention to anyone who says you wouldn't be a baller in Buffalo, you would. People don't understand that JAX's gamepland was RUN RUN RUN, though you clearly do because you spent years on the team, don't mind the ones who don't. Your blocking skills are exceptional and you have good body control from what I've seen. We need a go-up-and-get-it TE, and you could bring that element to our offense. Buffalo runs a fairly balanced scheme, and you can expect to be WIDE OPEN with Evans and TO commanding double teams. I've watched a handful of Jacksonville games and was always impressed with you and Mercedes, your ability to hold a block on the edge stood out, as well as you catching the ball outside of your frame. We also have two young TEs that could use your advice and mentoring. Come to Buffalo, it's clear the fans want you, we need to increase the level of talent on our team, and you would be a solid addition.

    ReplyDelete
  72. WE WANT YOU IN BUFFALO, PLEASE!!!

    ReplyDelete
  73. we would love to have you. great chiken wings

    ReplyDelete
  74. lol^ we do have great wings
but seriously, Buffalo needs some fresh blood, after watching Robert Royal for 3 years, you would be a sight for sore eyes. Come to Buffalo, Buffalo has the best fans ever and would welcome you with open arms. Trent Edwards loves to throw to the TEs. Come here and realize your potential.

    ReplyDelete
  75. PLEASE COME TO BUFFALO!!!

    ReplyDelete
  76. Cardinals would be a perfect fit for you for these reasons:

-With the best WR corps in all of football, a lot of attention would be shifted away from you, enabling you to get in a lot of catches and rack up the YAC.
-Ken Whisenhunt is a former TE in the NFL and will be able to help you expand your game and knowledge of the position.
-Ken Whisenhunt loves a good blocker so you'll see a lot of playing time, especially in run situation.
-You'd have a future Hall of Famer throwing you the ball, and a young QB to develop with who is very TE friendly.
-Pass friendly offense = a lot of catches.
-Easy division means you'll be celebrating a lot of victories.
-Arizona has bar-none best weather during football season. How does playing in the 60's in December feel?
-How would playing in January feel? Won't get that in Buffalo.

    ReplyDelete
  77. You would be a pro bowler in Buffalo!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  78. Bills fans have showed you here how much we love our team and how much we would love to see you on it. You would be a great addition to our pass and run game.... and if you sign with us before the draft it will give us a chance to focus on our O-line and pass rush in the draft. I hope to see you in a blue jersey this fall.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Come to Buffalo. The Bills offense needs a TE and you are looking for a new home. Sometimes things just work out. Take a look at Pete Metzlaars contributions here as a blocker AND Jim Kelly's move the chains guy. As the weather gets colder the TE role increases in Buffalo, and the TE is a red zone target. You will love the people there. Get in touch with Marcus Stroud.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Let's go Buffalo! Make it happen George!

    ReplyDelete
  81. come to buffalo...we need you man.........

    ReplyDelete
  82. George:

I would love to see you wearing Buffalo blue and red next season. We need a big, veteran TE to replace Robby Royal (although, you're probably better than Royal). Plus, and I know this has been stated in prior comments, with Lee Evans and T.O. on the outsides, you'd have plenty of room to work the middle and I bet you would be open constantly!

Please come to Buffalo, you'd be one of the final pieces to the Bills' puzzle!!

    ReplyDelete
  83. If you want the best fans in the NFL you should come to Buffalo, man. Arizona fans sit on their hands - they probably didn't even know they had a team until this year's Super Bowl...

    ReplyDelete
  84. Us Bills fans are about 3 things.

    1. Bills Football
    2. Chicken Wings
    3. Cold Weather

IF the first 2 are good the third doesn't matter. You have fantastic skills that would make the Bills better and according to other posts on here, you are a class act. As fans we hope you choose Buffalo we will make it a memorable enjoyable experience. We have a young and improving team. Help this team regain it's winning ways, while making some cold cash in a community that bleeds. Red, White and Blue.

    ReplyDelete
  85. DON'T go to the Cardinals. They already have TE's and you would not be used in their style of offense. You are perfect for the Bills because you are tough and solid. The Bills are the perfect and only fit for you.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Hey Bill fans, remember this game last year on October 5, 2008:

    Buffalo 17
    Arizona 41

Then there's the current temperature scoreboard:

Buffalo 39 degrees (winter weather advisory right now)
    Phoenix 76 degrees and sunny

    ReplyDelete
  87. Hey Arizona, remember that illegal shot by piece of shit Adrian Wilson?

If J.P. Loser wasn't in we would have been fine.

Don't go to AZ they can't handle playing outside, what a bunch of skirts.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Hey Cardinals fans

    Remember the Super Bowl?

    GO TO BUFFALO GEORGE!!

    ReplyDelete
  89. if the want u why are they not posting 1 fan cheated the poll

    ReplyDelete
  90. Yeah an AZ fan DEFINITELY found a way to glitch the voting.

    ReplyDelete
  91. "Hey Cardinals fans

    Remember the Super Bowl?

    GO TO BUFFALO GEORGE!!"

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT SUPER BOWLS!?

    ReplyDelete
  92. Good luck George. We'll miss you! Sign where it makes the most sense for you. After reading some of the above comments, avoid Buffalo. Some of their fans are clearly lunatics and it's the worst city (Detroit is a close 2nd) on your list.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Super Bowl?
    Was Buffalo there?

    ReplyDelete
  94. Hey George come to Buffalo. We need a TE and you would get to play with 2 of the best WRs in the game(Lee and TO) That would leave alot of space for you in the middle and Trent likes to throw it to his TE.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Arizona had 3 WRs with over 1,000 yards receiving this year and a future HOF QB throwing to them:

Larry Fitzgerald 96 catches, 1431 yards, 12 TD
Anquan Boldin 89 catches, 1038 yards, 11 TD
Steve Breaston 77 catches, 1006 yards, 3 TD

    ReplyDelete
  96. Super Bowl?
    Will Arizona ever go back?

    ReplyDelete
  97. Arizona fans, how big is that bandwagon? You never cared about your team before this year.

    ReplyDelete
  98. You should ball in b-lo

    ReplyDelete
  99. Super Bowl?
It was a great game and AZ deserved to be there.
Will they ever go back? Who knows, but I'm sure they won't ever lose 4 superbowls in a row....
That would be the worst thing that can happen ever....
A fan is a fan. Were you born a Bills fan? I think not.
For some reason the numbers 41-17 keep sticking in my head...

    ReplyDelete
  100. George,

I remember that game from the highlight video above. That was the last Oregon game I went to before I left Oregon for Florida.

    ReplyDelete
  101. I lived in Phoenix for 2 years, and while I was there I didn't meet a single person that claimed to be an Arizona Cardinals fan. There's no way people out there will care about there team after Boldin gets traded and Kurt Warner retires. Go to Buffalo where you'll have loyal fans rooting for you every week, and a great, young group of guys that a great team is going to be built around.

    ReplyDelete
  102. George - You've got to come to Buffalo man. The atmosphere at the "Ralph" will remind you of being in a college stadium!

    ReplyDelete
  103. Buffalo is where its at... Great town, up and coming team, great fans, and the brewing question in our offense is who will be our TE... You would fill that void immediately, lets go... Help us get back to the top of the AFC, I know you can contribute and thats what we need...

    ReplyDelete
  104. George - I wish you were staying with the Jags, but wish you all the best wherever you land. I will do you my two cents on the matter - avoid Buffalo and TO like the plague. Lousy city and a proven locker room cancer respectively.

    ReplyDelete
  105. George - Buffalo fans live and die with their team, you will be amazed by their passion. On gamedays the Ralph is absolutely insane.

Buffalo gets a bad rap, but it is a nice area with nice people. There are plenty of places to eat and go.

    ReplyDelete
